The wines of DO MONTSANT are produced in the south of Catalonia, in a rugged mountainous area adjoining the mountainous QDO Priorat. The vineyards ascend the mountain sides, to an altitude of 200 to 700 metres. The soil consists of granitic sand, poor in organic material and with little water retention capacity. The climate is cold and dry.
