PRODUCTION AREA: DOQ PRIORAT
These Qualified Designation of Origin wines are produced in the interior of Catalonia, in the region that gives its name to the designation of origin: PRIORAT. Priorat is a region enclosed by a precipitous circle of mountains, within which we find a fascinating landscape where the grapes grow on terraces and steep slopes. The slate soil in this area, also known as "llicorella", gives the wines a great mineral character.
PREPARATION
We select the old stocks of Grenache and Carignan, which have a low production and are traditionally cultivated with grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon abd Merlot varieties that are hand-picked at just the right point of maturation. Each variety is fermented separately in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 25º C and macerated with its own skin for 15 days. Malolactic fermentation is followed by the aging process in barrels. The Grenache and the Carignan are aged in French oak; while the other varieties are aged in American oak. The wine continues its aging in the bottle until its tannins have softened and the characteristic bouquet of this TENDRAL is obtained.
TASTING NOTES
Dark ruby red in colour with hints of purple. Aroma of red fruits, with toasted notes and hints of raisins. In the mouth it is full-bodied and potent, concentrated and reminiscent of preserves and cocoa. Very long and well-balanced aftertaste.
RECOMMENDATIONS
We recommend decanting this wine and serving it at a temperature between 15 and 17º C. Drink with poultry and meat stews, red and white meats and cured cheeses.
